Food is subordinate to life and to the life force which is inherent in all living creatures. When this life force is at low as in sickness, it is useless to stuff the body with food, even with right kind.
So when we are stressed, in anger, full of anxieties, the body is not in a state to accept food and digest it. The life force within is not stable and cannot accept another heavy duty like digestion. Digestion is a high energy consuming process within the body.
Any other simultaneous activity while eating forces the heart to pump more blood, slowing down digestion and leading to various ailments including indigestion.
