Why Fruits: 10 Reasons To Go For Fruits nutrition

Fruits and vegetables well can form a human diet along with diary products. Fruits form a highly nutritive part of vegetarian diet. They supply nutrition and keep the digestive system clean, thereby helping in body detox.

They are basically of two kinds.

Juicy fruits: Orange, pineapples, pomegranates, grapes etc.

Pulpy fruits: Bananas, mangoes, papaya, guava, peaches and other similar fruits.

There is a third kind, called dry fruits like dates, raisins, figs, red seeded raisins, apricots etc.

  1. They contain sugar – dextrose, glucose, fructose etc which are quickly absorbed and disintegrated in the body providing heat and energy to the weak and sick.
  2. They are free from fats.
  3. Proteins are less, so digestion is easy and quick.
  4. They contain natural water which is pure and free from other impurities.
  5. They contain soft digestible fibre which acts as an expander in intestine and helps in peristalsis. Hence they are good to prevent constipation.
  6. Full of vitamins. But they are natural not synthetic, so readily absorbed and utilized in the body.
  7. They contain acids, citric, malic, acetic, tannic, tartaric, etc. Many of these acids increase appetite, improve digestion, act as an antiseptic
  8. In addition, many fruits and vegetables, particularly dried beans and peas, are significant sources of folate, a B vitamin that can help reduce the risk of certain serious and common birth defects.
  9. Many items, such as raisins, grapes, cherry tomatoes, and bananas, can be eaten on the spot, with minimal preparation. NCI campaign literature refers to fruits and vegetables as the "original fast food" and in fact the only healthy fast food.
  10. The blood, serums and other liquids in the body are purified with the intake of only selected fruits for few days. The whole body is cleansed.

Superfoods for a Super Long Life

Research shows that specific chemicals in foods — such as sulforaphane, a phytochemical in broccoli — work with your genes to boost your body's natural defense systems, helping to counter toxins and free radicals before they can do the damage that leads to cancer, cardiovascular disease, and even premature aging.

Lycopene, the pigment that makes tomatoes red, also appears to reduce risk for cardiovascular disease, some cancers, and macular degeneration. It’s also been associated in greater self-sufficiency in elderly adults. While fresh tomatoes have a good hit of lycopene, the most absorbable forms are found in cooked tomato products, such as spaghetti sauce and soup and prepared salsas. Pink grapefruit, guava, red bell peppers, and watermelon are also rich in lycopene.

Eating at least two cups of orange fruits like sweet potatoes, squash and carrots boosts intake of beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A, essential for healthy skin and eyes, and which may also reduce the risk of some cancers, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. Lutein and lycopene, also found in orange produce, also help reduce the risk of macular degeneration and may protect skin from sun damage and even reduce wrinkling as well. Mangos and cantaloupes are also beta-carotene endowed.

And if you don’t do anything else to change your diet, eat your dark leafy greens. They have been showed to significantly reduce your risk for heart disease and may also save your eyesight. Dietary guidelines advise at least three cups of greens a week. Frozen or bagged is as good as fresh.

Don’t forget the mental aging process either. The heart-healthy omega 3 fatty acids have also recently been shown to keep your brain sharp. A recent study found that a higher intake of fatty fish significantly reduced mental decline.  If fresh fish isn't an option, go for canned tuna, salmon, and sardines.

Healthy eating habits: When to eat

Well, when every medical practitioner, health magazines are going ga-ga over the nutritious food, fitness, supplements etc to maintain a super health, one basic eating habit has been lost in the hype. The very definition of healthy eating habit by this site has been

What to eat?

When to eat?

How to eat?

Coming onto when to eat:

It is highly advisable to come to your dining table leaving your mind outside. Before you start interpreting it otherwise, the focus is to be free of all worries, tension, anger and any other anxieties before you start taking our food.

Food itself is lifeless material. It is powerless of itself to build flesh, blood, bones and nerves. Only a living, breathing organism can convert it into living tissue. Food is subordinate to life and to the life force which is inherent in all living creatures.  When this life force is at low as in sickness, it is useless to stuff the body with food, even with right kind.

So when we are stressed, in anger, full of anxieties, the body is not in a state to accept food and digest it. The life force within is not stable and cannot accept another heavy duty like digestion. Digestion is a high energy consuming process within the body.

Any other simultaneous activity while eating forces the heart to pump more blood, slowing down digestion and leading to various ailments including indigestion.

So better wait to calm down to come to your dining. Avoid reading or studying while taking your food. Eating is a bodily requirement; invest in it and you will get worthy results as your investment.

How difficult it is implementing a healthy eating plan?

This poses a very interesting problem before some people who know the facts and benefits of healthy eating and a well balanced diet plan, but implementing a healthy eating plan is quite a challenge for a few.

The problem is basically of two types while implementing a healthy eating plan.

All the marketing hype led people to believe that healthy eating is all about an ideal diet which is costly and a lot of food supplements which are even more beyond the reach of common people. All they try is to religiously consume the daily recommended dose of all vitamins and minerals as prescribed by health authorities or government agencies. For them this is all they need to reap the benefits of healthy eating habit.

Without denying the role of ideal diet and quality supplements, the fact is healthy eating is not limited by costly nutritious diets and supplements. Even if you try, it is very difficult to reach the goal of all the recommended doses of vitamins and minerals in your diet. Instead what is required is a balanced diet which is not necessarily costly. If  affordability comes into question, then a simple diet plan along with certain health rules well defines a healthy eating habit. Irony is many people are over fed but undernourished. And there are much more concepts to healthy eating apart from a balanced diet which really define good and disease free health.

The second type of problem is just the challenge to stick to a restrictive healthy eating. Some people know all the rules of good health but implementing such rules and bringing discipline is very hard for them. This is really a big challenge for most.

Going by ideal health rules, food is definitely not a toy to play with. Eating is a responsibility and eating is a duty. But at the same time eating is also a heavenly pleasure for most people. The need of taking delicious foods is as important as any other thing in life. How can you just ignore that urge to take mouth watering but health hazardous foods?

So still knowing this, the choice of bringing discipline in our food habits is certainly difficult. Solution is adopting a restrictive healthy eating which is more like a compromise between ideal food habits and the damaging ones. In youth when you are full of vitality, you have the choice to say "I can eat everything and nothing really hurts me". But soon time will come when you will have to say "I can eat nothing, everything hurts me". So a few restriction in your food will allow you to even take junk foods occasionally at any point of your life.

So one grand secret of healthful living is learning to live within limitations. Body has a tremendous capacity of adaptation and toleration but after all there is a limit. And when that limit is crossed, body starts striking back and sometime when neglected goes into pieces. That is what defines a restrictive healthy eating.
